Banana Porridge 2

Just thought I’d post an update on the ever evolving hot banana muesli.

Here are my current two favourite versions:

Version 1:

Chop ripe banana into a muesli bowl, add porridge oats, swiss style muesli and about 1 heaped tablespoon of ovaltine or milo (you can also add cinnamon if you are a cinnamon fiend – or other spices). Heat milk in a pan and pour over the muesli. Enjoy!

Version 2:

Chop or mash overripe bananas (the ones that have turned or are turning brown). In a pan, heat milk and porridge oats. Stir in banana. Pour everything into a muesli bowl. You can also add malty chocolate type stuff and/or cinnamon.

I’ve also tried making this with spelt and buckwheat flakes (available at some Polish/Russian delis & health food shops). Also very tasty! I also dimly remember a peanut butter chocolate related banana porridge experiment when I had mild hypothermia which seemed to cause cravings for extremely fatty, hot and sugary things. I can’t remember what I exactly put in it and how it tasted, but it sure did the job!
